Team SMC set their sights on pole position with customers at Silverstone for Fleet World’s annual Fleet Show event, which took place Wednesday 9 May 2018.
The one-day event is designed to bring the fleet industry together in one efficient event, meaning visitors can do the business you need to do, see the people you want to see and engage with new customers at one of the most iconic motoring venues in the world – Silverstone.
The organisers of the show Fleet World Group say, “The fleet industry is all about efficiency and that idea is integral to the concept of Fleet Show 2018.”
The event created the perfect opportunity for senior fleet decision-makers to take one day out of their busy schedules to drive cars and vans around the famous track from a host of manufacturers displaying on the day.
Manufacturers on display included Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Jeep, Kia, Lexus, Mercedes, Renault, Seat, Suzuki, Toyota, Vauxhall and Volvo. There were also a selected variety of suppliers stands and seminars available to attend, with the focus of the event giving visitors the opportunity to test drive a variety of vehicles on track.
Popular models on the day included Kia’s Stinger, Lexus’ LC500 and the Alfa 4C. Notably displays from Ford, Mercedes and Volvo also proved popular with visitors who mostly opted to take to the track in Ford’s Edge and Ranger, all of Volvo’s XC range, as well as Mercedes’ GL and Coupé models.
Other highlights also included three-time BTCC champion Matt Neal from Team Honda Halfords Yuasa Racing on the Honda stand, who took part in an exclusive Q&A session.
Sandicliffe Motor Contracts asked: How does the current Honda Civic differ to the previous model?
Matt Neal’s response was, “The road car trim is very different, but the guys at Swindon have taken every possible critical point of it, and adjusted it, making it better. In race trim, it’s quite a different beast! It has a lower centre of gravity with a longer wheel base, making it not as agile in slower corners, but it makes it more stable and a little bit faster in the quick stuff.”
Alastair Houston, Managing Director from Sandicliffe Motor Contracts added, “The Fleet Show is a fantastic one-day event that gives our strategic account managers the opportunity to build on manufacturer and customer relationships. Offering customers hands-on vehicle demonstrations on a wide range of vehicles that we can supply for lease and contract hire which is why events like these are so popular amongst our customers.”
If you are looking to take part in hands-on fleet events like this in future, Fleet News’ Company Car in Action, takes place on 12-13 June at Millbrook Proving Ground. This fully interactive event will offer around 300 models available to test to help further inform your decision making.
